Interview of Cricket Fans – 172

Thank you for your participation in this interview, firstly tell us a bit about yourself and your early memories of the game.

I am a professional working in the corporate industry. I have four years of experience in the IT sector. My earliest memory is that my father scold me to make sit and watch the match on T.V. I start watching cricket from the legendary India Australia series in 2001 in India. After that Sachin Tendulkar’s batting made me fall in love with this game.

Your early memories of watching Mumbai Indians in the IPL?

We have lots of good players in the first two seasons but we still not able to qualify in the top four. That hurts the most. Watching Jayasuriya and Sachin Tendulkar opening together is pleasing to the eyes. Keep changing openers regularly and top of all Harbhajan slapping Sreesanth.

Tell us about your passion for this franchise, what is the reason behind your support and your fondest memories of being an MI fan.

The reason is one and only Sachin Tendulkar to support MI. I am so passionate about this franchise and used to fight with dad during every MI v CSK matches because he supports csk. Winning 2013 IPL first time, Sachin Tendulkar century, Bhajji and Symonds playing together after Sydney 2008, unbelievable chase in 14.2 overs, scouting young talents like Bumrah and Pandya, Rohit’s captaincy and Pollard’s match-changing innings.

What is it like growing up in Delhi with respect to this sport?

I remember in the summer holidays we used to wake up early at 5 am daily and go to nearby parks to play cricket. Later we also started going in the evening as well. I remember in school we play leg cricket and play with school diary during lunch breaks in class with the ball of aluminium foil.

Who is your favourite Indian Cricketer currently?

Rohit Sharma. He is favourite because of how he came back after struggling initially in his career. I like his way of captaincy he keeps calm and cool in pressure situations of the match.

What are you expecting from the second edition of the World Test Championship – 2021/23?

Expecting India to go again in the final. Pakistan has also a good chance to qualify in the final as well. Going by the schedule I am expecting Pakistan and India in the WTC final.

What are the things that Indian Cricket needs to improve, in your opinion?

We need to find some seaming all-rounders in domestic Cricket. Lately, I think we are lacking a quality spinner in our team. Moreover, we need to improve our batting against spin as we are not the same as we used to play spin earlier.
