Interview of Cricket Fans (ICF) – 22 — Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is India’s pride. Whenever India looses an early wicket in limited overs, Virat Kohli always steps up coming in at number 3 position in the batting order. He is someone who can take the game away from the opposition and is a complete match winner. He is not just a good limited overs batsman, but is also a proper test match player who has got plenty of runs both home and away specially in the last 5 years. My final guest in this Virat Kohli series of interviewing fans is @i_stanKohli18

Thank You so much for your participation in this interview, share your early memories of watching Cricket and how you fell in love with this sport?

First of all thank you Jay for giving me this opportunity to take part in this interview series of Virat Kohli. My earliest memory of Cricket is sehwag 319 against South Africa 2008. Though I started watching Cricket very late but i fell love with this game in no time.

When was the first time you saw Virat Kohli on TV?

Though i saw 2-3 times before 2009 champions trophy but I’ve become his fan after his knock against WI in a low scoring chase. Where kohli lead his team to victory with unbeaten 79. The innings where he played every shot with perfection just like we say as straight from text book

Have you been fortunate enough to meet Virat Kohli ? If you had a chance to meet Virat Kohli, what would be the first question you would ask him?

Unfortunately No. If I get a chance to meet my idol that would be the best day in my life. And I would ask him what motivates him to be more passionate about the game Everytime he steps on the field and how he manages to maintain such consistency in every format of the game he plays. And few fitness related questions too.

Your top 3 Virat Kohli knocks across all formats? (Mention 1 from Tests, 1 from ODI’s and 1 from T20s)

My top 3 Knocks of virat are

Edgbaston 149 vs ENG(test)
Hobart 133* vs Aus(odi)
Mohali 82* vs Aus (t20’s)

What is that one thing about Virat Kohli, apart from his Cricketing abilities, that you like the most?

His positive thinking and his fitness routine. The way he deals with the all the negativity around him is just commendable.

Which is that one biggest milestone, apart from most centuries in ODI’S, do you think Virat Kohli can break?

Most test wins by any captain. He’s about to 32 in upcoming november and he’s already in top 5 with 33 wins. By the time he retires he will surely have that feather in his hat. And most ODI runs too.

Your thoughts on Virat Kohli – The Captain?

Well, tbh Kohli the Captain is pretty underrated in international scene. People are judging him by considering ICC trophies where he just captioned only 2, in which one he had to take over the captaincy just before the tournament where he got only one series to build his team, still team went on to play final and unfortunately we lost. Rest other he has been very good. Most successful indian captain in tests, series win in aus ( only asian team) and most success rate for an indian captain in ODI’s.

Do you think we will be able to see the 2016 version of Virat Kohli in IPL ever again in the future?

Hopefully, yes. Even I’m excited to see that Peak kohli in IPL again and win matches for his team.

Which is that one revolutionary aspect about Virat Kohli you are extremely fond of among these two – Is it the fitness aspect that he brought in the team or is it his on-field aggression that changed the mindset of India’s style of play?

Fitness culture for sure. There were agressive captains in world Cricket like Ponting and Ganguly but there was never a captain who was very interested in his team’s fitness. Him being the captain, he sets himself as an example for fitness and he changed the whole fitness culture of Indian Cricket and some parts of World Cricket too. Players from other teams are also getting inspired from Kohli in this case.

How do you think Virat Kohli will fare in this year’s IPL?

I’m having very positive vibes for this IPL for kohli the captain and the Batsman as well. He’s looking very fresh and ready for this year’s IPL. He hasn’t played any game since the last few months. Just can’t wait for this IPL to start soon.
